Swoon-Worthy Space Thursday {emily a clark}

Thursday!  You know what tomorrow is, right?  Oh ... it's Friday.  And St. Patrick's Day is this weekend.  And Spring is so close.  And we're into Daylight Savings so it's so nice and light in the evenings.  Lots and lots of things to be excited about.  I'm downright effusive this morning!

Anyway, today is Thursday so I have another swoon-worthy space to share.  Up today is the home(s) of blogger Emily A. Clark.  I love Emily's blog.  She has such wonderful ideas and is a true designer, but her home looks lived-in and yet polished at the same time.  She has five (!) children, and I love when she shows the behind-the-scenes photos of what real life is like.  I love the mix of traditional and modern and how she combines colors.  Here is a round up of spaces in her homes.  All photos courtesy of Emily A. Clark.

So what do you think? I love her choices of dark wall colors.  They are so rich and lovely.  I also love how she took the doors off of some of her kitchen cabinets - what a great idea that I may just steal in my own oak-filled kitchen.  And don't get me started on that emerald green dresser.  You know I gravitate toward white painted furniture, but that dresser makes me want to get a little crazy and try a bold new color!

Happy day all!

See you swoon,

Happy Thursday!

Up today is another blog I love to check out - The Old Painted Cottage.  She has a "Cottage of the Month" feature that is updated monthly.  Talk about swoon-worthy eye candy!  But I also love the blog author's home as well. It's delightfully cottagey and homey.  And you have to see the before pictures on the blog - you won't believe the transformation.  Take a peek. {all photos courtesy of The Old Painted Cottage}

So lovely, right?  I *love* her dining room, and I'm thinking I may try that same look in my own with my table: paint the legs white and keep the top wood.  What's your favorite part?

One day til Friday.  Boom.

See you swoon,

OK.  It is the last Thursday, and the last day, in February.  I cannot believe it.  Talk about time flying.  We are but weeks away from Spring!

Last week, I shared a gorgeous beach home from Martha's Vineyard.  Up today is another beach home much closer to home, and one that was featured in House Beautiful:  a beach home located in Strathmere, which is a teeny tiny town nestled between Ocean City and Sea Isle City, NJ.  I remember getting the actual magazine in which this home was featured and loving it from the get-go.  I love the vibrant, fun colors paired with tons of crisp white, and I see a lot of my own style in this home.  Enough from me -- I'll let the pictures do the talking.  (all photos courtesy of House Beautiful)

Sigh.  Swoon.  Gasp.  What's your favorite part?  I love ... um ... everything.  I think my favorites are the den and kitchen.  And mudroom.  Ok, everything.  I love this home so much it hurts.

See you swoon,

Happy Thursday, all!  It's been a few weeks since I posted a Swoon Worthy Space Thursday.  I have a good one to share today that will make you ready for Summer ... even if you are a decidedly non-Summer person like me.

I love to search vacation homes - there is very little likelihood that I will ever own one, but that does not stop me from daydreaming about a lovely beachy home in a lovely beachy town where I can relax and unwind.  Although I have never been there, I love to check out homes in Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.  The New England beach towns are so very different from the New Jersey beach towns that I grew up with.

I found this home, the Red Door Retreat, in Martha's Vineyard and was immediately swooning over the gorgeous style.  I hope you enjoy.  (all photos courtesy of 37 Simpson's Lane or Lighthouse MV)

What do you think?  I am all about that open kitchen and den area.  I also love how the home definitely has a "beachy" feel but it isn't decorated like a beach home.  What's your favorite part? Anyone ready for a clambake?

See you swoon,

Swoon-Worthy Space Thursday {secret garden cottage}

Wow! I cannot believe it's a week into February.  How did that happen?  February is the shortest month but always feels so so so long.  I am hoping for a snow day or two this month.

Up today to pull us out of the Winter doldrums are some gorgeous spaces from Jo's home featured on her blog, Secret Garden Cottage.  I *love* this home.  It perfectly pinpoints my style: cottage but not too shabby, beachy but not too beachy, soft but not too feminine.  Oh ... I just love this home.  It does not work at all with the way my current home looks, so I will have to dream about my next home and trying to recreate what she did.   In any event, I hope you enjoy her home (all images courtesy of Secret Garden Cottage).

Swoon! I cannot possibly pick a favorite because I just love them all.  The white, the chippy paint, the vintage touches, rustic cottage elegance.  Perfection.

See you swoon,

Swoon-Worthy Space Thursday {the yellow cape cod}

It's the penultimate Thursday in January - can you believe it?  I confess that I love using the word "penultimate", which I learned back when I was a Latin major in college.  It is one of those words that I use every chance I get even when borderline appropriate.

So Thursdays mean featuring swoon-worthy spaces here on Swoon.  Up today are some gorgeous rooms from Sarah's home at The Yellow Cape Cod.  Sarah provides design consulting, and with good reason.  Her home is seriously lovely with great, yet approachable, style.  Here is a round-up of some of my favorite spots in her place (all photos courtesy of The Yellow Cape Cod).

Gorgeous right?  And what about those striped drapes -- can we please talk about them?  They are show stoppers.  Happy almost-Friday to you! Hang on ... we are almost there.

See you swoon,

Swoon-Worthy Space Thursday {6th street design school}

Hi!  Good morning one and all.

Last week, I shared the first of what will be a weekly feature here at Swoon: Swoon-Worthy Space Thursdays.  Up today are gorgeous spaces in the home of one of my favorite bloggers: Kirsten at 6th Street Design School.  I have featured Kirsten's blog here on Swoon a few times - here and here.  Her living room curtains were the inspiration for the curtains in my last den.  She is a professional interior designer and can mix and work prints like nobody's business.  I just love how her spaces - both those in her own home and those she designs for others - turn out.  They are always beautiful and modern but look sweet and comfortable.  I have learned a lot about mixing prints by reading her blog.

Without further ado, here are some of my favorite spaces in her home (all photos courtesy of 6th Street Design School).

Aren't those rooms just lovely?  Aren't those prints killer? Kirsten does a Feature Friday on her blog where she showcases homes of other bloggers and/or her readers.  I hope you check out her blog and get a daily dose of inspiration like I do.

See you swoon,
